Dear Friends,

Christian Bucher

The dog days of summer are here and the mercury creeps upward in the Valley. Hot water comes out of both tabs, and the best parking place is determined by shade. The time is perfect for a poolside cool-off, or a weekend getaway in the Arizona High Country. Despite the heat, I hope that this newsletter finds you in good health and spirit.

Our Spring Picnic at Boyce Thompson Arboretum was gorgeous. It was organized as a joint event with the Austrian Society and around 90 people showed up for grilled sausages, delicious salads and desserts. The Arboretum is an impressive place with hiking trails worth exploring and many native plants sold in their shop.

A big Thank You goes to Doris and Steve Torres for hosting the 1st of August Cele-bration at their residence. We welcomed around 65 members and guests to a fun poolside party, enjoyed delicious platters & Susan’s famous Tiramisu, and were musically inspired by Alphorn sounds and the Swiss national anthem.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have ideas, comments, or suggestions of any sort pertaining to our club. Also, we are always looking for new Board and Committee members. Our next event will be the Swiss Fall Fest on Sunday October 28th, at the Paradise Valley Country Club. It will be in the form of a fundraiser benefiting the Arizona Swiss Foundation’s Scholarship Endowment Fund and the Scottsdale Sister Cities Student Exchange Program with Interlaken.

On behalf of the Board of the Arizona Swiss Society - thank you for your continued support and stay cool!

Sincerely, Christian Bucher, President
